About the movie: The Great Gatsby follows the story of Nick Carraway, who leaves the Midwest and heads to New York in the spring of 1922, a city that embodies loosening morals and popular jazz. Carraway is searching for his own version of the American Dream and settles near the home of the mysterious, party-hosting Jay Gatsby, as well as close to his cousin Daisy and her philandering blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. Nick gradually becomes part of the world of the extraordinarily wealthy, with all its illusions, loves, and disappointments. As a witness to this world, Nick writes a story of impossible love, eternal dreams, and a car tragedy, holding up a mirror to the modern era and its struggles... Screenwriter, producer, and director Baz Luhrmann, with the help of his extraordinary imagination, has once again brought F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby to the big screen. Luhrmann offers his own visual interpretation of the classic story and brings the plot to life in a way never seen before. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the lead role of his film.
